William Crenshaw founded Crenshaw Lighting in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1957. His small custom lighting company specialized in church lighting, but soon expanded to include historic restoration and custom lighting for commercial applications.
In 1989, the business moved to the Blue Ridge Mountain community of Floyd, Virginia under the ownership of William’s son Woody and his wife Jackie. Together, they built the company to its present size. Although the company has expanded and re-tooled to take on some of the largest, most prestigious decorative lighting projects in the country, the core principles remain the same as when the company was founded: hand craftsmanship, a commitment to quality, long-term relationships, and being a reliable partner for clients and community.
In 2013, Woody and Jackie Crenshaw passed the mantle of ownership to Patrick Daley. Daley brings ten years of experience in the lighting industry, as well as a passion for quality to his new role. It is this passion for quality that drew him to Crenshaw. “The talent in this shop is extraordinary,” says Daley. And it is this commitment to the craftsman tradition that remains a guiding principal as Crenshaw looks forward to the future.
