This Gothic bracket lantern sconce was replicated from an original historic fixture which had been installed in the University of Michigan’s Law Quad since the 1930’s. In order to preserve the historic integrity of the original fixtures, replication was specified to be conducted so as not to disturb the originals, which were to remain in their original locations throughout replication. Digital scans were taken, and custom tooling created. The lantern body was used not only to create replica sconces, but new companion pendants and post lanterns as well. Fixtures were finished in a multi-step hand-applied Aged Verdigris patina, and lamped with cold-temperature rated 4-pin compact fluorescent lamping behind frosted clear seed acrylic lenses.
