The solid brass pendant makes an impressive opening statement.
The decorative pendant Crenshaw built for the Freeman Center entry portico was monumental in scale. At two-and-a-half feet in diameter and five-and-a-half feet tall, the lantern itself weighs more than 300 pounds. It is constructed of very heavy gauge solid brass with machined details that accentuate the piece designed by Glavé & Holmes. The visible lamping is decorative and consists of an open-candle-style chandelier lamping tree bearing eight 40 watt candelabra lamps. Supplemental performance lamping is hidden behind the massive body trim in the form of four 26 watt TBX CFL uplights with a 50 watt ED17 metal halide downlight. The fixture is finished in our hand-applied antique brass patina with clear seedy glass lenses.
