Kitchen 21

Built in 1923, this historic space previously held the famous chain restaurant, Childs Restaurant. Under the direction and redesign by the architects at EwingCole, the renovated building houses a new five-in-one restaurant, Kitchen 21. This designated New York City landmark pays homage to the original architecture while featuring an updated look and feel that reflects the culture of Brooklyn today.

We were honored to have worked with EwingCole in developing custom lighting for this iconic Coney Island project. Our Custom Globe Pendants and Ring Chandeliers respect the style of the original Seaside Park structure while including contemporary design elements. Integrated with LED lamping, the globe pendants feature solid brass construction with a decorative metal banding and an aged brass finish. Representing the style of other lighting elements found in the space, the faux bronze ring chandeliers were constructed to house medium base for LED equivalent lamping.

Led by the New York City Economic Development Corp, this project is part of an overall effort to redevelop Coney Island. Crenshaw Lighting is proud to have played a role in this redevelopment.
