Testing and Listing

Crenshaw’s in-house NRTL Certified Manufacturer’s Testing Laboratory (ISO/IEC 17025:2017) is fully accredited by CSA under OSHA’s Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) program to perform testing and listing onsite in our facility, and by Underwriters Laboratories to label for UL general coverage.

NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED TESTING LABORATORY (NRTL) Program

In the 1970s, Underwriters Laboratories (UL) was replaced as the sole testing and certifying agency in the United States by the Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) program under OSHA’s product safety mandate to allow for fair market competition among testing agencies. Currently, there are around a dozen NRTLs, but the most widely recognized is still UL. Underwriters Laboratories, together with the Association of Standardization and Certification (ANCE) and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), is responsible for issuing the comprehensive safety standards for lighting manufacturers in the United States known as UL1598. It should be noted that as part of the anti-trust genesis for the NRTL program, civic agencies may not discriminate amongst NRTLs in issuing building permits and awarding contracts.

CRENSHAW STANDARDS

All luminaires manufactured by Crenshaw are NRTL listed unless otherwise specified. All luminaires, listed or not, are built in compliance with UL1598 safety standards and NEC codes. We go beyond NRTL requirements to test and verify that ballasts, drivers, and other electrical components operate within their respective manufacturer warranty requirements for heat and other factors for maximum luminaire life and performance. Through these and other rigorous manufacturing practices, Crenshaw is a leader in the industry in quality and safety standards.

Crenshaw luminaires are backed by a limited lifetime manufacturer’s warranty, and a five-year electrical warranty.
